At both the Urban Center (downtown) and our Dekalb Campus
Life Action Plan Partners
The Life Action Plan(c) is a 3-Phase Agreement with an individual and SHO, Critical Needs, Sustaining Solutions, & Dream Work, entered into by an individual and SafeHouse Outreach to clearly map the necessary steps to move past problems and into a functioning life.
Life skills, ID, bank accounts, employment, medical evaluations, transitional housing and more are addressed.
A Life Action Plan Partner would work closely with that individual in executing the Plan. The time involved varies depending on the individual. Anytime during Monday – Friday regular business hours are needed for this volunteer opportunity.

Mentoring Children of Inmates
Be a mentor to a child of an inmate. Training involved, required time: 4 hours of face to face time per month, 12 month commitment.
Studies have shown that children of inmates are 85% more likely than their peers to end up in jail themselves unless there is some kind of intervention.

Organizational Opportunities
During a 12 month period, our Urban Center will serve over 187,632 meals, give out over 8,432 blankets, and receive over 10,937 phone calls –incoming and outgoing- for the people we serve.
We are always in need of organizers: People who enjoy organizing hygiene kits, storage closet, serving area shelves, etc.
This can be project oriented or a regular weekly-type volunteer opportunity. Hours can vary as long as staff is also at the Urban Center.

Nightly Impact Services
Every night of the week, we host a dinner and service for the poor and homeless of Atlanta. It has 3 goals:
1. To bring Hope
2. To tell about SHO and our services
3. To give Love

Mentoring Mom
Mentor a teenage or single pregnant mom through her pregnancy to the birth of her child and beyond. Give her tips on her physical changes, be an emotional support, and help answer questions.

Parent Education Classes
Help is needed to organize for classes, stock and inventory the Baby Boutique, assist with classes.

Baby Showers
Have your small group or office sponsor a baby shower. Our Baby Boutique is always in need of new or gently used newborn to 3T clothing, toys (no stuffed animals please), baby furniture, and large baby/small child equipment.

Problem Solvers Volunteers
Individuals are needed to teach Computer Skills, assist with Life Action Plans, distribute mail, oversee the phone bank as well as handle other general problem solving issues.

Health Services
Doctors, Registered Nurses, Physician’s Assist, Pharmacists, and anyone in the Health Services field are needed to give basic screenings, health education information, foot care, and more all week long and at large outreaches. Clinics are both on-site at SafeHouse and in the communities.

Host a Drive
Host a sock drive, poncho or umbrella drive, hygiene kit drive, or t-shirt drive at your church, your office, your neighborhood, or your small group. Or put together a fundraiser- 5k run, car wash, fishing tournament or create you own.
